The personnel of museum promised to create extended
exposition plan of museum, but these services costed a lot, and party direction
of state farm decided to rely on its own possibilities.The engineer Anatoliy I.
Egorov, joiner Valery N. Storozhenko, photographer Ivan L. Bozhok and talented
artist-sculptor Anatoliy I Piven' took active part in technical and artistic
decoration of museum.These works passed in the spacious apartments of 1-th floor
of state farm dormitory, especially selected for this museum. Tense activity on
creation of museum was followed by the autumn of 1973.
2 halls of museum were opened at first. On the inauguration, taking place on
November, 3, all personnel and honored guests who created museum were presented.
Raisa P. Smetana was appointed to manage a museum. She personally developed and
began to conduct interesting and rich in content excursions. The museum in
Osnova very quickly got wind and popular, the amount of visitors in those years
made about 10 thousands in a year.
In February, 1976 a high rank of "Folk museum" was appropriated to ours. And
at the end of 70th, the Kherson regional council of tourism and excursions
included the museum to the list of main tourist-excursion objects of Kherson
region.The number of halls was gradually multiplied, and the last fifth hall of
viticulture and vine making was opened in 1979. Years went. A museum was
changed, new expositions and new exhibits appeared, new forms of work - thematic
excursions for students, child's club "Friends of museum" began to work.
Different exhibitions started their own work in museum.
One of them, becoming permanent, named "The Ferrous echo of
war" and takes place in the first hall. Exhibits-relicts tell about exploits of
soviet soldiers, lost in fights on the Nikopol' bridgehead, a lot of countrymen
were among them. The basic exposition of the first hall acquaints visitors with
nature and history of our land, from the most ancient times to the origin of the
vine making and viticulture at the end of XIX age.
The showcases display us the samples of wood species, grain crops, soils,
herbarium of plants. Willy-nilly, you are surprised of our south nature
generosity, when you look over the skillfully made plaster casts of vegetables,
fruits, bunches of grapes, cultivated on sands of Left-bank of Dnepr River, the
greatest desert in Europe.Sandy hills which gather around Osnova, easily can be
named a "museum under the opened sky". And it not surprisingly, whoever lived on
this region: tribes of different epochs of bronze and Cimmerians, Scythians and
Sarmats, Slavonic tribes, Goths, Huns, Khozars and Avars, Pechenegs and
Polovtsy.
These places remember princes of Kiev and Lithuanian kings,
Crimean khans and Turkish sultans. More than once, brave Cossack of Zaporozh'e
battled here with invaders, two Zaporozhian Sechs - Aleshkovskaya and Kamenskaya
were on territory of our region.
Amazing exposition of numerous archaeological finds presented in our museum.
Cimmerian’s ferrous sword, ceramics of epoch of late bronze, Egyptian scarab,
found at the village of Zmievka, amber beads of 2 millennial age, ancient bowl
for wine, Olviyskie coins, Scythians bronze casting, tombstone, Sarmats’ sacral
table, stone sculpture of Polovtsy, Cossack pipe, bullet mold and saber.It is
not a complete list of archaeological rarities of museum. The decorations of
first hall indisputably are 2 dioramas ("Flora and fauna of Lower Dnepr" and
"Scythian stand"), and also bust of Bogdan Khmel'nitskiy by Anatoliy I.
